He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. William C Sanders and Kathleen A. Sanders; and his daughter Thomasina Robinson. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn; his siblings, Patricia A. Sanders Barber, William C Sanders Jr., Walter LeRoy Sanders, Nathaniel T, Cynthia Robinson of South Carolina and Monica J. Sanders of South Carolina; his sons, Gabriel Foreman of Willimantic, CT and Johnathan Mackey; his siblings-in-law, Gloria Thomas, Debra Gray of Montgomery Alabama and Will Foreman (Danette) of Montgomery Alabama; his grandchildren, Elisha Foreman, Elyse Owens, Joshua Owens, Sarah Mackey and Jessica Hunter; and his adoptive children, Edwin Colon, Edward D'Angelo Johnson and Christina Johnson. He is also survived by nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great grandchildren.
