Madeleine Carpenter Obituary
Madeleine Carpenter, 74, of Springfield entered into her eternal rest on May 30th surrounded by her family's love after a brief illness. She was born in Springfield on June 4th, 1949 to the late Maurice and Therese (Daoust) Peloquin. Madeleine worked for a number of years for the Springfield Public School Department as a paraprofessional. Upon her retirement from teaching, she went on to faithfully serve in many roles at Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield where her faith, dedication, and devotion to her parish community will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
She will be remembered as the matriarch of her family, and as a wonderful grandmother who held a special relationship with each of her grandchildren. She was also a devoted caretaker to many, a fantastic cook-especially her homemade apple and french meat pies. She also made sure to talk with her children daily, and her sense of humor was second to none. In addition to her dear husband Donald, she was predeceased by her parents, and brother John Peloquin. She is survived by her children Jean L. Adams and husband Bruce, Glen S. Carpenter and his wife Kate, and Cora J. Carpenter- Pica and husband Jimmy.
She also leaves her siblings Moe Peloquin and wife Sylivie, Roger Peloquin and wife Cathy, Sr. Jacqueline Peloquin of the Sisters of Charity in Canada. She is also survived by her sister in law Patricia Peloquin, her niece and goddaughter Chantal Peloquin; as well as her dear grandchildren: Emily Adams-Piteo and her husband Anthony, Noah Adams, Benjamin Carpenter, Avalys Pica, and Max Pica; her great grandchildren Alec and Grayson Piteo; as well as many dear friends too numerous to mention. The Carpenter family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the doctors and staff of Baystate Medical Center for all of their dedicated care over these last few weeks, especially Dr. Janhavi Giribhattanavar.
