He was predeceased by: his grandmother Ellen Starks; his parents, Luke Elbert Williams Sr. and Pertelle Starks Williams; and his brother Mark Antonio. He is survived by: his wife Ailyn; his children, Rene, Luke Elbert III, Mark Antonio, Kenyatta Diokno Nyerere and Ramona Dorothy-Lee; his siblings, Raheema Sameem (Ousman Ceesay) of Gambia, Teresa Williams Fortson (Henry) of Massachusetts, Dorlene Jones of Georgia, Matthew Williams of South Carolina, Mamie Johnson (Jimmy) of California, Patricia Peters of Arizona and Mack Williams (Carmella) of Arizona; his nieces and nephews, Teresita Williams of Massachusetts, Vanessa Jones of Georgia, Tanee Johnson of Arizona, Erica Johnson of Washington State, Jasmine Williams of South Carolina, Mya Williams of South Carolina, Neftalie Shontel Williams (Rachele) of Florida, Taurus Williams of Massachusetts, Vincent Williams of Arizona, Isaiah Williams of Arizona, Quentin Williams of South Carolina, Rodney Johnson (Eva) of California, Sam Jones III and Michael Jones (Tavara) of Nevada; and his aunt Dorothy Maxine Williams Brisbane of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
Once his obligation to the Peace Corps was fulfilled, he remained in the Philippines and worked at the Ford Foundation.
