He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Dora Lee Owens; his sister Ernestine Williams; his children, Alan (Gwendolyn), Vincent (Cynthie), Rovena, Stephanie (Robert) and Thomas Curtis; and his brother-in-law John Williams. He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
