He was predeceased by: his father Clarence Grady McDaniel; his son Richard McDaniel; and his brothers, Eugene and Dale McDaniel. He is survived by: his wife Ester Thompson McDaniel; his mother Clover Ethel Elliot McDaniel; his sister Beatrice Bright; his sons, Adam Dalton, Travis McDaniel and Steven McDaniel; his grandchild Ryan Dalton; and his pet Betsy.
