He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Athanas (Brew); his siblings, Guera "Gerri" Mitro, Samuel, Theodore and Joseph; his son-in-law Emil E. Maly; his great great grandchild Julien; and his parents, Peter Athanas and Vasiliky Athanas (Perikly).
He is survived by: his children, Patricia M. Maly of Southbridge, Richard P. Athanas (Caren Weeks) of Sierra Vista, AZ and Robert J. Athanas (Carol) of Montgomery, NY; his grandchildren, Carol Ann Turner of Charlton, Abigail Jezierski (Roger Baker) of Southbridge, Kimberly Abatangelo (Drew) of Montgomery, NY and Anthony P. Athanas (Morgan); and his great grandchildren, Kayla Billings, Salvatore Albanese, Brady Morton, Hannah Marrier, Hudson, Myles Abatangelo and Luke Athanas. He is also survived by 10 great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
