He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smithers and Alice Smithers; and his brother John. He is survived by: his wife Janet Petruccelli-Smithers; his children, Michael Smithers of South Yarmouth and Samantha Smithers of San Diego; and his sister Christine of Scotland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
