William Lee Coady Obituary

We are sad to announce that on April 12, 2024, at the age of 76, William Lee Coady of Somerville, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Eunice M. Coady and Francis R. Coady; and his brothers, Francis, Paul, Mark and Peter.

He is survived by: his siblings, Dennis (Mary Coady) of Scituate, Margaret (Larry Cullivan) of Williamsburg, VA, Greg (Sue Coady) of Plymouth, Lisa Coady (Michael Maso) of Brookline, Truro (Sean Coady) of Hull and Judy (Don Paul Benzaquin) of Duxbury. He is also survived by Uncle Lee' leaves many nieces and nephews.

His tireless work and indelible contribution to AIDS Action was later profiled in the December 1987 issue of Boston Globe Magazine (as a sign of the times, it was this article that confirmed his identity as a gay man to his own mother).
