He is survived by: his daughter Carmen Vaz (Jose) of Swansea; his grandsons, Daniel Vaz and Michael Vaz; and his sisters, Isabel Melin of Madeira, Carmo Fernandes of Madeira and Maria Simplicia of Madeira. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
