He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Martel and Rose Martel (Theriault); his son Matthew Martel; and his sister Henriette Souza. He is survived by: his wife Edna Martel (Beaulieu); his children, Daniel Martel (Margaret) of Utah and Denise Martel-Bovie of Somerset; and his granddaughter Amelia Bovie.
