He was predeceased by: his former wife Joan Belden (Weisberg); and his parents, Burton C. Belden and Kathryn Belden (Kammerer). He is survived by: his wife Mary D. Austin (Grover); his sons, Scott C. (Liz Belden), Michael P. (Sarah K Belden) and Douglas R. Belden (Debbie Stranton) of Cardiff; and his sister Jean Belden (George Taber). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a niece; and five nephews.
