He was predeceased by: his wife Catharine Ambos (Quick); his parents, Leonard Ambos and Minnie Ambos (Quinn); his son David; his brother John; and his sister-in-law Esme.
He is survived by: his children, Douglas, Beth Ambos (Fritz Theyer) of Washington, D. C. and Doug Ambos (Barbara) of Sherborn; his daughter-in-law Kristine Carlson of San Francisco; and his grandsons, Daniel Theyer and Scott Ambos.
