He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia K. Carten (Devaney); his parents, Andrew S. Carten and Margaret M. Carten (Mahoney); and his brother Andrew Carten. He is survived by: his children, Eileen Daniels (Paul), Stephen J. Carten (Retha), Brian P. Carten, Patricia A. Schmedel (R. Kent), Kathleen M. Carten of Sherborn and Amy M. Toronto (Paul) of East Falmouth; his siblings, Thomas J. Carten and Mary Oslin; his grandchildren, Erin, Michael, Samantha, Jennifer, Matthew, Katherine, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, Richard and Hannah; and his great grandchildren, Tarah, Tori, Kadance and Aubrey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
