It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hope Rose Swanson (Sheffield, Massachusetts), born in New Rochelle, New York, who passed away on January 23, 2019, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Adolph Gustav Straleau and Violet Maude Straleau (McElrath); and her brother Elvin Straleau. She is survived by: her husband Howard Justus Swanson; her children, Sara Ellen Smith (Edward) of Hillsdale, NY, Laura Beth Guyette (Bruce) of Northampton, MA, Melissa Jane Victory (James) of North Canaan, CT and Howard Justus Swanson, II (Martha) of Cheshire, MA.; and her grandchildren, Karen, Edward, Andrew, Adam Smith, Jessica Winn, Gillian Wells, Matthew Wheeler, Hope Mazzeo, Sara Farmer, Carl, Paul and Lauren Swanson.

On the day she passed, she had completed her 10th hand-knitted baby sweater for donation to the local Hospital.
