He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Dr. Harald N. Johnson; his wife Frances Maxfield Alexander of Scituate; his son E. Parker Welch; his mother Frances; his siblings, Marion, John (Virginia) of Redmond, Washington and Susan (Bruce Robison) of Pittsburgh; his nieces and nephews, Eric, David, Kristin, Anne-Marie, Daniel and Linnea; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Analia, Karissa, Maxfield, Elanor, Beatrice, Philip and Samuel; and also, Marion Welch and Richard Noble of Sebastopol, California..
