Joaquim Manuel Duarte Obituary

We bid farewell to Joaquim Manuel Duarte (Scituate, Massachusetts), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 19, 2025 at the age of 95. Joaquim touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia Elizabeth Duarte (Leighton); his parents, Candida Duarte and Manuel Duarte; his daughter Doreen Eloise Duarte; and his siblings, George and Beatrice Duarte.

He is survived by: his daughters, Denise Maria Macedo and Jacqueline Jean Duarte; his grandchildren, Vanessa Lonborg (John) of Exeter, NH, Erica Flynn (Jesse) of Newburyport, MA, Brooke Hankins (Brian Vigil) of Albuquerque, NM, Jessica Klaus (TJ) of Los Lunas, NM and Eric Watson of Albuquerque, NM.; his great grandchildren, Xavier Vigil, Cole Joaquim Lonborg, Odin Klaus, Dylan Flynn, Zephyr Klaus, Simone Lonborg, Vincent Flynn, Tatiana Vigil, Cosmo Klaus and Nicholas Flynn; and his sister Maria Duarte. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 26th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home (382 First Parish Rd, Scituate, MA 02066). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, March 26th 2025 at the St. Mary's Cemetery (23 Meeting House Ln, Scituate, MA 02066). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Scituate Maritime Center (119 Edward Foster Rd, Scituate, MA 02066).
