It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Benvinda Rodrigues Monteiro of Scituate, Massachusetts, who passed away on June 5, 2020, at the age of 104, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, Juvenal Monteiro (Tony) of Scituate, Catherine Monteiro Barbosa (late John Peter Barbosa) of Scituate, Maria Monteiro Jenkins of Scituate, Manuel Monteiro (Susan Ingram Monteiro) of Norwell, John Monteiro (Karen Monteiro) of Plymouth, Elario Monteiro (Laura Campbell Monteiro) of Los Angeles, Peter Monteiro of Plymouth, Fernando Monteiro of Scituate, Augusto Monteiro of Southington, CT and Anna Monteiro of Scituate; her husband Guilherme Pires Monteiro (Tony); her siblings, Eduardo Rodrigues, Raul Rodrigues, Domingos Nunes (Branquinho), Gary Pounds, Emilia Miranda, Dominga Hall, Antoinette Mirandes of Canton and Dirk Pounds of Las Vegas, NV.; her grandchildren, Melissa Monteiro, Tiffany Monteiro Hart, Celena Monteiro, Richard Monteiro, David Monteiro, Michael Monteiro, Susanne Monteiro Adams, Jennifer Barbosa Zarrella, Margaret Barbosa, Joshua Barbosa and Joshua Monteiro Nyren; her great grandchildren, Anthony Smith (Melissa Monteiro), Jason Jr., Jameson Hart (Tiffany), Isabella, Marianna, Cecelia, Angelina (Richard), Clarastella, Annabel, Mary, Polly, Ellen (David), Vianna, Mateo, Giancarlo Zarrella (Jennifer), Thomas and Teddy Adams (Susanne); her father America; her nephew Nene Nunes; her grandfather Lopes; and also, Ritinha, Panota, Sozinha Miranda, Fogo, Nhatchika, Maria, Nene, Alexandre, Santinho, Nathaniel and Mane.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the current Commonwealth of Massachusetts regulations impose strict conditions for visitation and funeral services. As such, the services will be private; the family intends to schedule a memorial service for Benvinda in the near future.
