He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Muir (Oakley); his parents, James Muir and Emma Muir (Dooley); and his brothers, Gerald, Harry and Clarence Muir.
He is survived by: his children, Janet Thompson of Lynn and Glenn Muir (Michelle) of Saugus; his grandchildren, Justin Thompson (Shelly), Nicole and Courtney Muir; and his sisters-in-law, Jessie Hampton of Halifax, Sandra Oakley of Halifax and Joan Oakley of Halifax. He is also survived by his four great grandchildren.
