He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Richards and Loretta Richards (Crowley); his wife Kathy (Howard); and his sister Mary Couturier. He is survived by: his children, Michael Richards (Christina) and Linda Cicolini (Carmine); his grandchildren, Dominic, Carly, Maddyn, Aubrey and Noelle; his brothers, Henry "Butch" Richards (Kathy) and John "Jack" Richards; and his close friends, Carl, JoAnne Kuehner and Doug Grant. He is also survived by siblings and their families, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Solimine Funeral Home - Broadway (426 Broadway, Lynn, MA 01904). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 at 9:00 AM and at 10:00 AM. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Riverside Cemetery (164 Winter St, Saugus, MA 01906).

“For anyone who grew up in East Lynn in the 1960's Paul was an icon, always riding his bike and always greeting you with a smile. You may not know the name of the Lynn Mayor at the time but you knew Paul. He seemed to be everywhere and knew everybody. He resurrects real pleasant childhood memories for me.
