He was predeceased by: his wife Marie A. Swanson (Bugden) of Lynn; and his parents, Ralph Swanson of Worcester and Elizabeth Swanson (Tully) of Lynn. He is survived by: his girlfriend Karen Waterman; his children, David A. Swanson Jr. of Lynn, Stephen P. Swanson of Wakefield, James A. Swanson of Lynn, Susan M. Meagher (Paul) of Manchester, NH, Marie A. and Hollis; his brother Richard Swanson; his sister-in-law Ruth Swanson; and his sister Gerri Poulin. He is also survived by extended family with many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Due to pandemic restrictions a Celebration of Life and Internment Service will be announced at a future date.
