He was predeceased by: his parents, George H. Garrett and Alice Dunne (Whalley). He is survived by: his son Brett Garrett (Carol Callahan); and his granddaughters, Nova and Willow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's name to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, One Margin St., Peabody, MA 01960.
