He was predeceased by: his father Joseph W. Hughes, Sr.; and his sibling Marylee Burke. He is survived by: his mother Anita P. Hughes (Bigley) of Wakefield; his siblings, JoAnn Gallant (Paul) of North Reading and Col. Paul Hughes; and his brother-in-law Stephen Burke of Rochester. He is also survived by four nieces, four nephews, and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridgewell, 10 Dearborn Rd., Peabody, MA 01960.
