He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey C. Bailey and Olevia Bailey (Melder); and his siblings, Odria Bailey, Urble Fontenot and Opal Carroll.

He is survived by: his wife Claire P. Bailey; his stepchildren, James E. Tanch (Colleen Miller) of Beverly, Kenneth M. Tanch (Jean) of Rowley, George "Tom" Tanch (Karen) of Hamilton and Judith L. Bonaiuto (Dennis) of Topsfield; his son Bradford Bailey of Rochester, NH.; his grandchildren, Michael James Bailey McGettrick, James Tanch Jr. MD, Derek Tanch, Emery Tanch, Tyler Tanch, Emily Tanch, Scott Tanch, Benjamin Tanch, Grace Tanch, Thompson Tanch, Isabelle Tanch and Jessica Bonaiuto; and his great grandchildren, Aiden McGettrick and Emmett McGettrick. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in his name may be made to, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem, 29 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
