He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joanne (Spinney); his children, Jacqueline "Jacqui" McKinnies (Mike) of Roslindale and Joseph Hertello (Jennie) of Lowell; and his siblings, Maryellen (Chuck) of Baltimore, William (Paula) of Canton and Edward of Jamaica Plain. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
