Susan A. Smith Obituary

Susan A. (Sweeney) Smith, 70, of Rockport, MA passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Beverly Hospital with her husband by her side.

She was born in Tampa, Florida on August 12, 1951, daughter of the late Richard E. and Helen E. (Knowlton) Sweeney.

Susan was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1969. Following high school, she attended dental assistant school. She later went to work with her father at Stoneham Paint and Wallpaper. Susan was a jack of all trades and could do everything needed to be done throughout the store. When the store was sold, she left and married the love of her life, Donald E. Smith and lived in Danvers for a few years and later settled in Rockport, where she enjoyed gardening and craft painting. She had a great love for animals, especially cats having raised a litter of 5 and ended up with 9.

Susan is survived by her husband, Donald E. Smith; her sister, Jean Tecito and her husband William; nieces, Violet and Charlotte and many friends from over the years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Her. Graveside Service will be held in Locust Grove Cemetery, Gloucester on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There will no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
