Robert W. Parker Obituary
Robert William Parker, 79, of Rockport MA., died peacefully after a long illness on April 19th, 2024.
Born on March 11, 1945, in Somerville Mass to Gerard "Lefty" Parker and Gertrude Kearns Parker, Bob attended Malden Catholic high school where he was 1st team All-Scholastic. He graduated in 1963. He graduated from Boston College in 1968.
He owned a painting company in Boston, and upon retirement, he became the "head" substitute teacher at Cathedral High School in Boston.
He is survived by his partner of 40 years, Deborah Greer, his brothers Gerard Parker of San Francisco and John "Jack" Parker of Gloucester and wife Jacqueline, his son Christopher Parker and wife Dawn of Melrose Mass, David Parker and wife Christine of Manchester by the sea, daughter Amy Cientanni and son in law Bruno of Lynn, as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Bob loved Mexico and spent many winters there. He was an avid skier and swimmer. He loved diving off the rocks at his beloved Pebble beach.
He was a man of great wit as well as much compassion. He was loved by and will be missed by many people.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 28th at the Greely Funeral home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester from 11 to 2p.m., followed by a Service at 2p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon at Cruiseport Gloucester, 6 Row Square, Gloucester, MA., following the Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Ann Open Door 28 Emerson Ave., Gloucester.
