Maura E. McCarthy Obituary
Maura Elizabeth McCarthy, 54, of Rockport, MA died Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at her cottage on Long Beach. Born in Winchester, MA on July 6, 1967, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Henry ("Hank") and Eileen ("Dee") McCarthy. Maura was an extraordinary sister to Christine (Marc), Dawn, Justin (Bonnie), Tara (Kevin), Deidre (Roger), and Shauna, and the loving Aunt Mimo to Kash (Maura C.), Sean, Dylan, Brendan, and Ethan.
She was beloved by so many special aunts, uncles cousins and friends. Maura was a graduate of Wakefield High School Class of 1985 (a true Warrior), and St. Anselm College Class of 1989 (a true Hawk). At both WHS and St. A's Maura excelled as a leader on and off the field, with an NCAA record, serving as the captain of multiple teams and often setting records when her feet touched the ground.
For years Maura made so many friends in her travels for St. A's, at her restaurants in Rockport and Gloucester and most recently in her happiest role in her own business taking care of so many adorable pets on Cape Ann. Maura never met a dog she didn't love. She will be remembered for her sparkling eyes, brilliant smile, her kind heart, sharing a laugh and so much warmth and love for everyone she met.
It was hard to leave her without a smile on your face or feeling better about yourself. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Ann's Church, 74 Pleasant Street in Gloucester, MA. Family and friends are cordially invited.
