Marilyn B. Lincoln Obituary

Marilyn (Barnhill) Lincoln, 91, of Rockport, MA., beloved husband of the late Kenneth Lincoln for 58 years, passed away on October 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Beverly, MA., on July 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Frank Headly and Estella Jean (Staples) Barnhill, and sister to the late Keith Barnhill and Frank Barnhill.

She attended Arlington Public Schools and graduated from Boston University. She was a public school teacher before marrying Ken in Switzerland and staying on in Europe while he was stationed in Germany from 1953-1958. After returning to Arlington to raise their family, Marilyn also pursued her passion for art and became an accomplished watercolor painter and member of the New England Watercolor Society. She reveled in New England's coastal landscapes as the family spent many weeks each summer cruising on their sailboats "Snow Goose" and "Reflection". Most years, their home was nearly bursting with relatives during the holidays, and Marilyn relished friendships and community surrounding the Park Ave Congregational Church. Continuing to paint, she discovered a Tuesday class in Rockport, MA run by Betty Lou Schlemm, which fostered lasting friendships and Marilyn and Ken's eventual retirement in Rockport.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Karen Wilber and husband Robert of Stow, MA, Jennifer Lincoln of Rockport, MA, Stephen Lincoln and wife Anne McEwan of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Jared and Lindsey Wilber and Wyatt and Elsa Lincoln; her sister, Beverly Miller and her husband Kenneth, of Arlington, MA; and in-laws, nieces and nephews and their families.

A burial service for the family was held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington, MA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Habitat for Humanity or a charity you support. Arrangements by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
