Leonard J. Brousseau Sr. Obituary
Leonard "Lenny" Joseph Brousseau Sr., 71, husband of Deborah "Debbie" (Granfield), of Rockport, passed away, unexpectedly, on December 28, 2023.
Lenny was born on December 7, 1952, to Robert L. and Ruth P. (Mitchell) Brousseau in Brighton, MA. He grew up in Billerica, then Chelmsford, with his parents and sister, Susan. In 1973, Lenny wed his sweetheart Debbie, whom he lovingly called Betty, at St. Theresa in Billerica. They went on to have three children: Lenny, Jr., Bethann, and Bobby, seven grandchildren and a great grandson.
In 1972, Lenny began his career in the auto parts industry working at Eastern Auto Parts. He then worked at Auto Parts Plus, which led to his family moving to Rockport from Billerica. In 2000, Lenny opened his own store, Lenny's Town Auto Supply. After closing the store in 2007, he started a job at Sandy Bay Machine which led to his most recent job at Collins Aerospace, where he was still working.
Lenny was extremely active in the Rockport community. Through his years here, he was the President of both the Rockport Sportsman's Club and the Sandy Bay Brotherhood. He was the Commissioner for the Rockport Men's Softball League. He enjoyed these positions and ensured that they all gave scholarships to Rockport High School students. Lenny also volunteered for many years selling tickets for Rockport High School's hockey team. While running Auto Parts Plus and later, Lenny's Town Auto Supply, Lenny quickly became a pillar of the community. His charismatic personality led to people stopping there to gather as if it were a coffee shop. He wouldn't hesitate to change your windshield wipers or check your oil or washer fluid. That is who Lenny was a man who had compassion and treated anyone as if they were family. Family was incredibly important to Lenny. He loved playing with his grandkids and hanging out with his children and their spouses. His favorite family time was the annual Brousseau family trip to Panther Pond in Maine. Watching the kids play on the beach and in the water gave him great enjoyment.
Lenny was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Ruth Brousseau; his in-laws, John and Joan Granfield; and his special Aunt Rene. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debbie; his children, Lenny and wife, Tanya (Eaton), of Rockport, Bethann, of Gloucester, and Bobby and wife, Lindsay (Frontierro), of Rockport; his grandchildren, Cameron, Emma, Christopher, Joseph, Robbie, Kelsey and Kylie; great grandson Colson; his sister, Susan and husband, William Jamer, of Chelmsford; his special Aunt Kay; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
