Gary F. Taber Obituary
Gary F. Taber, loving husband of the late Karen M. Taber, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, after a brief illness.
Gary was born on August 3, 1944, in Auburn, NY. He grew up in Gloucester, MA and was a graduate of Gloucester High School. He was a proud member of the Army National Guard, serving at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.
Gary was a lifelong tradesman and always enjoyed working with his hands as he worked as a carpenter, a mechanic, and a machinist through many phases of his life. He was very proud to serve the community as a member of the Rockport Fire Department, starting out as a firefighter and eventually serving as Fire Chief for many years. In his later years he enjoyed golfing with Karen and friends and going on adventures with the "The Gang.". In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with the ROMEO club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) for meals in town. More than anything, he was a devoted family man who loved imparting his skills and knowledge to his loved ones.
Gary is survived by his three daughters, Merri Foote and husband Mark, Stephanie Taber, and Caitlin Taber all of Rockport; grandchildren, Jessica Movalli, Kristine Movalli, Michael Foote and wife Alison, Mark Foote Jr, Marissa Foote, and Anthony Enderle and wife Emily; and great-granddaughter, Lainey Foote. He is also survived by his brother, John Sperry, and wife Sandra; as well as his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family friends Lisa Enderle and Terry Francis.
Gary was predeceased by his beloved wife Karen, and mother, Helen Taber (Enos).
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Beech Grove Cemetery at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. A celebration of life will follow at the Shalin Lui Performance Center at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend.
