Elizabeth W. Hudder Obituary

Elizabeth W. "Betty" Hudder, 96, of Rockport, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Hospital in Bedford, MA.

She was born in Gloucester, MA on July 7, 1927, daughter of the late Capt. John J. and Mary Ann (St. Croix) Hudder. She was born in Gloucester and attended school there, graduating with the Gloucester High School Class of 1945.

As a young woman she worked at Cape Ann Ticket and Label Company as an apprentice linotype operator, later working for the Gloucester Daily Times. She entered the Air Force in 1950, serving with the Air Weather Service in Louisiana and Japan. Upon discharge in 1954, she resumed her career as a compositor with Curhan Company and later with the Essex County Newspapers in the production department.

Retiring in 1993, she did volunteer work at Halibut Point State Park as a guide and interpreter. She helped with patient activities at Den Mar Nursing Home and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 9, where she served as Sergeant-at-Arms.

Betty is predeceased by five sisters, Evelyn March, Agnes, Elsie Rinaldi, Marjorie Burns Hudder and Frances Christopher; and six brothers, J. Thomas, John J, Robert R., W. Woodrow, Ralph A., and Paul D.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours or services. Her private burial will take place in Bourne National Cemetery on Cape Cod.
