Edward Norman Palmquist Obituary
Edward Norman Palmquist passed away on Monday morning, October 17th, 2022, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover NH, due to complications from COVID. He was 77 years old and was born in Rockport, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Edward Napoleon Palmquist and Ada Lothrop Palmquist (Parsons), and one of seven children. Norm enjoyed 55 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sandra Lee Palmquist (Hodgkins). Mr. Palmquist was predeceased by five siblings, his beloved wife in 2021, and his eldest son Norman in 2009. He is survived by his son Shane, and his wife Kerry, of Bowling Green KY, and their four children Leah, Logan, Landon, and Lily. He is also survived by his daughter Mara and her wife Victoria, of Dover NH.. In addition, he is survived by his brother Roy, of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Norm was a 1964 graduate of Rockport High School and had also attended Beverly Trade School.
He was a machinist and worked for 24 years at Gloucester Engineering and for 10 years at United Shoe Machinery and at several other local machine shops. He was also a lobsterman in Rockport for many years and owned several boats. He built his own wooden lobster traps by hand, while his wife knitted all the heads. He enjoyed fried clams, summers at front beach, townie baseball games, band concerts down on back beach, and watching the Boston Red Sox. Norm's family is very grateful for his life.
There will be a graveside service in Beech Grove Cemetery in Rockport on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 1 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. This service is followed by a celebration of life at the Palmquist family home at 30 Railroad Ave, Rockport MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Ann Food Pantry, 28 Emerson Ave. Gloucester, MA 01930. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester.
