Douglas B. Lynn Obituary
Douglas B. Lynn, 90, of Rockport, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at home, surrounded by family. He was born in Melrose, MA, to Russell H. Lynn and Frances B. (MacLean) Lynn.
Douglas was a 1948 graduate of Stoneham High School. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy days after graduation at the age of 17, his naval career found him in several aircraft squadrons in Rhode Island, Texas, Guam, England, Florida, Virginia, California and New Jersey and aboard various aircraft carriers, the last being the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. After 28 years of service, he retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer then attended East Coast Aero Tech, earning an A & P license. He then worked at Raytheon, Cape Ann Tool Company and Tadco before his 2nd retirement. Douglas was known for his dry sense of humor and always had a joke to share. An avid Boston sports fan, he especially enjoyed following the Boston Bruins.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Diane (Bannon) Lynn; his son Daniel, both of Rockport; his daughter Diana Lynn Dolloff and husband Bruce of Stow, ME; granddaughters, who lovingly referred to their grandfather as "Beepa", Jessica Pepe and her partner Patrick, Sarah Pepe and great grandson Rhett, all of Gloucester; sister Audrey Wright of Chesapeake, VA; brothers-in-law Kenneth Bannon and his wife Kay of Rockport and Philip Balzarini of Gloucester; several nieces and nephews and special friends Sally and Frank Levesque of Rockport.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Michael Lynn and Richard Lynn.
A private graveside service will be held in Locust Grove Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life held in 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to: Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to the First Baptist Church of Rockport, 4 High Street, Rockport, MA 01966. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester, MA.
