Daniel E. Ducheneau Obituary
Daniel Ducheneau, 41, of Rockport and Middleboro, Mass., passed away at his parents' home on April 26, 2022, following a brief illness. He was born in Melrose on July 26, 1980. He attended Rockport Public Schools.
He was predeceased by his brother Andrew and sister Kate. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his mother and step-father Norma and Jim Cooney; his brother Dr. Bill Cooney, and wife Kristen and their daughter Emma; sister Dr. Beth Cooney and her partner, Mike Sokolowski; brother Nate Cooney; and his golden retriever, Mia. His father William Ducheneau and his wife Elizabeth, his sister, Julie Jodoin-Krauzyk and husband Rob, sister Lori Jodoin and her wife Andrea Licaria. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, and cousins from the Darsney, Capecci, Ducheneau, and Cooney families. He also leaves behind a network of friends in the Recovery Community, coworkers at Community Counseling of Bristol County and classmates in the Regis College School of Social Work.
Dan graduated from Salem State University with a major in communications. He had been working as a Recovery Coach for Bristol County Community Counseling. Dan had completed his first year in the Masters in Social Work program at Regis College; and recently been inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta National Honor Society, he had accepted the position of President of the Regis College Chapter.
Dan was an intelligent, kind, and loving man who left us too soon. Dan loved his family and friends, family vacations, movies, amusement parks, dogs, family holidays, corny jokes, his music. He followed in his mother's footsteps and her love of the Boston Celtics. He was proud of his years in Recovery and had committed himself to paying it forward.
Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA, on Tuesday, May 3, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Graveside service and burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Pleasant St., Rockport on Wednesday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited.
