Daniel C. Herrick Sr. Obituary
Daniel Charles Herrick, 79, of Rockport, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 4, 2021. He was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, on August 20, 1942, son of George Harvey and Bessie Carter Herrick. He attended both Gloucester and Rockport Public Schools before enlisting. He was a retired veteran of the Army.
He then joined the workforce at Gloucester Engineering, where he worked as a wireman and master electrician for 40 years. Dan was an avid seaman, loving his lobster boat, jet ski, kayak and volunteering on the Thacher Island Association. He had an eye for artistry and loved woodworking and carpentry. He loved spending time at his camp on Big Indian Lake in Maine.
He was also a member of the Rockport Baptist Church. Dan will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by sister, Andrea Gail Brown; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kenneth Buzzell; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kristy Mulkern; son, Nicholas Herrick Bjorn and sister-in-law, Betsy Crocker. He is also survived by grandchildren, Lisa Marlene Michelle Crenshaw, Heather Rae Buzzell, Finnian and Eden Mulkern.
He is also survived by great-grandchild, Zaylah Jane Knights. Dan is predeceased by his parents; wife Shirley Crocker Herrick; his daughter, Tammy Jane Herrick; his son Daniel Charles Herrick, Jr, and his brother-in-law, William Brown. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
His Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
