Barbara B. Fisher Obituary

Barbara (Branch) Fisher, 84, of Rockport, MA wife of George D. Fisher passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Oceanside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rockport, MA.

She was born in Englewood, New Jersey on December 24, 1937, daughter of the late Harold and Katherine (Smith) Branch.

Barbara grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey and Indian Lake, Denville, New Jersey and graduated from Teaneck High School. She attended Duke University, and went on to Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her RN Certificate. She worked at Mountainside Hospital and Orange Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, and later at Massachusetts General Hospital before moving to Rockport in 1974, becoming Assistant Nursing Director at Den Mar Nursing Home. She later attended Harvard Medical School receiving her certification as a Registered Nurse Practitioner and entering a 24-year career with Dr. Sydney Wedmore at his Whistlestop Mall practice. Barbara was very dedicated to all of her patients, and she truly loved her job.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, George D. Fisher of Rockport; her brother, Lawrence Branch; nephews, Christopher, and Thomas Branch, of Pennsylvania and Maryland; many acquaintances and colleagues.

In keeping with Barbara's wishes there will be no services at this time.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the Thacher Island Association, P.O. Box 73, Rockport, MA 01966.
