Amy J. Silva Obituary
Amy J. (Peterson) Silva, 58, of Rockport wife of Stephen M. Silva, passed away Thursday July 14th, 2022. Her passing was sudden, following a short but fierce battle with an aggressive form of cancer. Amy passed with her loving family by her side.
Born in Gloucester, MA on August 8th, 1963, daughter of Marcia Faye (Parks) Peterson and the late Lawrence N. Peterson Jr. of Rockport. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1981. After graduating she started as a stay-at-home mom before beginning her career working as a switchboard operator with the Beverly Hospital. While working full time she attended the North Shore Community College where she obtained her associates degree in physical therapy becoming certified as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Amy continued her career working as a Physical Therapy Assistant with Kindred and Partners North Shore. Amy cared deeply for everyone always placing their needs before her own. Amy was very athletic and active. Growing up she enjoyed camping, skiing, and playing varsity tennis.
She met her husband of more than 40 years while waitressing at Peg Leg Restaurant. Falling in love, they started their beautiful family which meant the world to her. She loved their weekend ski trips to Bartlett, NH, "One more run!". In her free time, she loved spending time with her family, especially her adoring grandchildren. Some of her most memorable places to visit included Disney World, Hilton Head Island, Bermuda, and her daughter's cabin in Maine. She loved to experience new restaurants, frequenting the ones she liked most! She enjoyed live music, concerts and she never missed an opportunity to watch her kids or grandkids achieve their dreams. Amy was an avid Bingo player and never let a losing card get her down.
Amy is survived by her adoring husband, Stephen M. Silva of Rockport; her mother, Marcia Faye Peterson of Rockport; her sister, Beth Ann and husband Martin Kardenetz of Ipswich; her brother, Lawrence N. Peterson III and his fiancé Francine Giamanco White of Gloucester; her daughter, Alyssa Faye Bosch and husband Christopher of Haverhill; her daughter, Jessica Lauren Araneo and husband Chad of Rowley; her beloved grandson, Joshua Lawrence and his fiancé Selena Webber of Danvers whom she had a very special bond with and was like a son to her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aidan, Autumn, and McKenzee of Haverhill; Wren and Willow "Bee" of Rowley and her beautiful new great-granddaughter, Jolena "JoJo" of Danvers. She loved being the greatest "Mya" and "Abba" to her grandbabies.
Amy was predeceased by her father, Lawrence N. Peterson Jr. who she adored and admired so very dearly.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday July 20th, 2022, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, MA 01930. To respect Amy's wishes, a private service will be held graveside.
