He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Hughes Coughlin; his father Richard Coughlin; and his siblings, Lynne Faria, Johnny Coughlin and William Coughlin.

He is survived by: his mother Edith Sullivan; his sons, Patrick Coughlin (Jodi Coughlin), Bobby Coughlin (Mike Legere), Keith Coughlin (Stephanie Doughty) and Scott Smith (Heather Salvucci); his siblings, Richard Coughlin, Michael Coughlin, Brooks Coughlin, Sharon Bradshaw and April Coughlin; his grandchildren, Cora and Asher Coughlin; and his close friend Christie McKnight.
