It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joanne Gates of Rochester, Massachusetts, born in Malden, Massachusetts, who passed away on February 3, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband David L. Gates; her parents, George J. Baldwin and Beulah P. Baldwin (Ellis); and her siblings, George W. Baldwin and Margaret Baldwin-Gronlund.
She is survived by: her friend June Backgren; her children, Deidre, Deirdre Gates of New Bedford, Dawn Gates-Allen (Frederic Allen, Jr.), Shane J. Gates (Marianne Backgren-Gates) and Barry E. Gates (Mari Jeffery-Gates); and her granddaughters, Nicole B. Allen of Rochester, Mariah E. Allen-Woodward of Middleboro and Alixandria Gates of Middleboro. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations in Joanne's name be made to the, Cranberry Research Foundation 265 D South Meadow Road Plymouth, MA 02360.
