He was predeceased by: his wife Carol M. Bruce (Pumphret); and his brother Walter M. Bruce. He is survived by: his son Sgt. James R. Bruce, Jr.; his grandchildren, Carol A. Bruce of Winthrop, James R. Bruce, III of Lynnfield, John E. "Jack" Bruce of Lynnfield, Francesca N. Capone of Winthrop and Hannah C. Capone of Winthrop; and his siblings, Eleanor "Sissy" Kelley (late Robert N. Kelley), Barbara A. Bruce-Meade (late Franklin D. "Frank"), Navy, Marine Corps, Marilyn A. "Mal" Symmes of Winthrop and Revere. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.
