It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Portella (Rehoboth, Massachusetts), born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, who passed away on February 22, 2020, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Arlene Portella (Blair); his parents, Manuel Portella and Antonette Portella (Rodrigues); his sister Josephine Sax; his son-in-law Richard Souto; and his stepdaughter Linda Ann Caverly.
He is survived by: his children, Judy Self (Steven) of Seekonk, Deborah Souto of Seekonk, Robert J. Portella of East Providence and Kevin Portella of Scarsdale, NY; his siblings, Manuel Portella of Riverside, Rose Levesque of Rumford, Dolores Mello of Rumford, Albino Portella and James Portella; and his stepdaughter Deborah Stolle of East Providence. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
