He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Barter and Matilda Egan (Zarthar). He is survived by: his wife Darlene Smith; his daughters, Annie Barter of Raynham and Michelle Westgate (Tom) of Taunton; his sister Arlene Donovan (Thomas) of Raynham; his stepsiblings, Jacqueline, Patrick, Beverly, Mike and Tracy; and his stepfather Michael Egan. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
