He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Lawrence; his wife Joanna Alden (Roche); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rousseau (Degree) and Madison Alden; his sisters, Sylvia Pelham of New Jersey and Judith Ackerman of Taunton; and his brothers-in-law, Dennis Ackerman of Taunton and F. Robert Roche of Taunton. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

““Joanna my deepest condolences to you and your family. You may recall I was one of his closet friends that lived near Kineo Street and lived on Mascoma street around the corner. We used to go fishing in the Charles River in Dedham near the water treatment plant next to the bridge. The only way we got there is hitch hiking even in the rain. I got my first driving lesson from Harvey and still think about even till this day. I will miss him and you have my prayer that we will see him in future.””
