Patricia MacDougall Obituary
Patricia A. "Pat" (Williams) MacDougall, 83, a kind, loving, and gentle lady, passed on April 19, 2023 at The Pavilion Nursing Home and Skilled Rehabilitation Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
Patricia was born on July 5th, 1939, in South Boston, to Margaret M. (Powers) Williams and Howard E. Williams. Pat - eldest sister to Margaret (Peggy) J. Daly, Janet L. Hunt, Paul E. Williams, and the late "Champ", Howard F. Williams - always remained devoted to family throughout her life. Pat moved to Randolph during her elementary school years and graduated Randolph High School in 1957. Pat became a registered nurse through Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing and served at Milton Hospital, Boston Health Department, Boston State Hospital, American Red Cross, Braintree Hospital, and Eventide Nursing Home.
She married William "Billy" MacDougall on October 15th, 1966, at St. Bernadette's and was a devoted wife until her last breath. Patricia exuded maternal love: an adoring and sacrificing mother to her children, Marianne and Andrew MacDougall, an ever present figure in the lives of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and a helping hand to anyone in need. She became known fondly as "Aunt Pat" and professionally, as "Nurse Pat or Nurse Patty".
While she raised her family in Randolph, Patricia was a long-time summer resident of Dennisport, and loved the beach and sun. In retirement, she moved to Hingham, where she was an active member of her condo complex, the town senior center, and served as a volunteer at the Hingham Food Pantry. Pat also enjoyed walking in nearby Bare Cove Park, book club, birding, and travel.
Pat was afflicted by Alzheimer's disease and experienced a steady decline in health since Christmas 2022, leading to her passing. Patricia - determined to remain independent - resided, thrived, and blessed all those who came in contact with her warm and kind spirit at her apartment in West Yarmouth at the The Mill Hill Residence, a facility providing assisted living and memory care. Patricia also spent two months with son, Andrew in Randolph as her primary caretaker; his service was exceptional, loving, and beyond compare in January and February of 2023.
Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Randolph on Thursday, April 27th, from 5-8 pm, followed by a funeral mass at St. Bernadette Church, also in Randolph, on Friday, April 28th, at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are welcome. Immediately following the funeral, Pat will be buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Randolph.
We invite you to share your memories of Pat, notes of condolence, and photos on Newlywords. Pat's wishes were in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Family Support Center of Cape Cod or Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation via https://www.alzinfo.org. Pat's memory will be cherished by many who knew her, as she always brought joy and love to those around her.
