He is survived by: his brother David Brandes (Kathleen); his nephew Christopher (Ashley); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lilly and Tuckerman; his nephew Garrett (Kimberly); his sister-in-law Janice McCaffery Brandes; his nephew Kevin (Criseleldamarie); his great-nieces, Olivia and Emma; his great-nephew Joseph; his nephew Byron (Tanya); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kayla, Jonah and Greyson; his niece Rachel Brandes Hendricks (Kenneth); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Benjamin, Matthew, Abigail Felton, Zachary, Daniel and Sarah Hendricks; his sisters-in-law, Susan Oxenford Rose (Michael) and Lyn Oxenford Jasinski (Paul); his nephew Mathew (Valerie); his great-nephews, Samuel and Peter; and his adoptive son Thomas Vozzella.
His outstanding teaching and musical contributions to this world profoundly affected the lives of so many people.
