We are sad to announce that on September 8, 2024, at the age of 86, Margaret E. Smith of Plainville, Massachusetts, born in East Haven, Connecticut passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph E. Smith Sr.; her father George; and her brothers, William and Gerard. She is survived by: her children, Joseph Smith Jr. (Christine) of Dedham, MA, Bill Smith (Amy) of Wakefield, RI, Charlene Butts (Christian) of Plainville, MA, Laura Dunberg (Scott) of Freehold, NJ, Debbie Baker (Dave) of Concord, MA and Kathleen Prettitore (Russell) of Middletown, NJ.; her grandchildren, Allie (Peter), Sam, Nate Smith, Sarah, Matthew, Jules Butts, Paige, Chloe Dunberg, Grace, Kelsey Baker, Luke, Olivia, Julia and Trevor Prettitore; and her sisters, Maureen Guckin, Betty Backman and Georgeann Hajnal.
