He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Baran and Katherine Wojtusiak Baran; and his sister Elaine B. Uchman. He is survived by: his significant other Janice M. Larkin; his children, David S. (Coleen Baran), Richard L. (Jeanne Baran) and Nancy Jo Baran (Kris Fisher) of Napa, CA.; his brother Doctor Daniel T. Baran of Shrewsbury, MA; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Nicole, Jeffrey, Alexa, Steven and Tyler Baran; and his great grandchildren, Liam and Corinna.
