He was predeceased by: his son Jeffrey French; and his siblings, Cynthia French and Gilbert French. He is survived by: his wife Diane Phillips; his sons, Brian French (Maya) and Kevin French (Kelly); his stepdaughters, Kim Pemble (David) and Pamela Egan; and his grandchildren, Ethan French, Ava French, Lucy French, Stella French, Aiden French, Ally Egan, Nick Egan, Jason Pemble, Jeremy Pemble and Lindsay Duff.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory can be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the Dwyer Funeral Parlor.
