He was predeceased by: his parents, Ferdinand J. Fields and Carolyn Spaulding Fields; his wife Doris E. Smith; and his daughter Catherine. He is survived by: his children, Carolyn (Timothy Grimes), Richard Jr. and James (Joan); and his grandchildren, Kevin Grimes (Elizabeth), Emily (Thomas Wood), Michael Grimes (Emily), Jeremy, Jason (Alicia), Ryan, Jeffrey and Maureen. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
