He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Bigelow and Louise Bigelow (Grandshaw); his wife Carolina H. Martins Bigelow (Sintra); and his siblings, Conrad, Louis, Arthur, Richard, Margaret, Salinda and Louise.

He is survived by: his former wife Mildred F. Eichstedt (Dellea) of Southfield; his children, Daniel H. Bigelow Jr. (Merry) of Palm Bay, FL, Donna M. Bigelow Trapp (Ralph Trapp) of Pittsfield, Debra J. Richard of Southfield and Deana R. Drobish of Rockaway, NJ; and his sister Veronica Martin of Pittsfield. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Veterans' Home at Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
